Greenlight Letters
Protect kids from explicit content and honor parental authority with ready-to-print opt-out letters, called Greenlight letters. Simply sign the Greenlight form and ask the librarian to review the title on the NBRI before allowing the child to check it out, or provide them with this list of books your child can't check out. If the rating or sensitivity matches what you select on your form, then the librarian contacts the parent to review it before allowing the student to check it out.

Pre-Screened Lists & Greenlight Letters
All parents want to encourage their children to read, but we have discovered that some books are too mature for children. The parent library inventory review with opt-out letters gives you the transparency into your child's library so you can guide your child’s literature choices. Share this list with the schools to opt your child out of books rated 3-5.
Simply Print, Sign and Submit:
-
Print the ready-to-use letter.
-
Enter your child’s name, grade and sign at the bottom.
-
Check off the specific rating types (3, 4, 5) and sensitive content you wish to be notified about.
-
Give the document to your school principal or librarian to be linked in your child’s library file.
