Goodbye, Chunky Rice by Craig Thompson

A black-and-white graphic novel about Chunky Rice, a small turtle who leaves his inland home and best friend Davy to seek the sea, interweaving shipboard vignettes with flashbacks of childhood friendship, loss, and Solomon's traumatic past.

This book’s main concerns are animal cruelty, controversial racial commentary, mature sexual content, and self-harm.
