A 1950s Mexico City socialite, Noemà Taboada, travels to a remote
Gothic mansion called High Place to rescue her cousin Catalina from
a mysterious illness and discovers the Doyle family is bound to a
parasitic fungus that enables mind control, body horror, and centuries of incestuous eugenics. The patriarch Howard Doyle forces supernatural submission on household members while Virgil sexually harasses and assaults Noemà under the house's influence.
This book's main concerns are; drugging, explicit sexual
