Empower Your Child’s Reading with Informed Choice!

All parents want their children to read, but books are too mature for children. The Parent Flag & Notify service gives parents the transparency needed to guide their child’s literature choices. For just $10, we provide a ready-to-use letter linked to a library inventory report created by running the child's library inventory list matched against the 28,000+  reviews held within the National Book Rating Index (NBRI). All matched titles are then tagged with a rating or content flag, and parents can select which ratings and sensitive content is flagged for their review.

District Packages available here.

Simply Print, Sign and Submit:

  • Print the ready-to-use letter.

  • Enter your child’s name, grade and sign at the bottom.

  • Check off the specific rating types (3, 4, 5) and sensitive content you wish to be notified about.

  • Give the document to your school principal or librarian to be linked in your child’s library file.

Key Features

  • The "Flag and Notify" Form: A formal request for the librarian asking him or her to pause the checkout of any flagged titles and allow for your parental review and consent.

  • Library Request List (Optional): Along with a parent letter and link to the rated inventory, parents will receive an optional "Request List" of high-quality titles often missing from modern collections—including detransitioner stories and educational materials from outlets like PragerU—to suggest for your school's acquisition.

Important Information for Parents: Verification is Key! Because library data varies, automated mismatches may occasionally occur. We encourage parents to use the National Book Rating Index directly to verify the specific title and author, and then read the reviews to determine what is appropriate for their child. By establishing an "Informed Choice" model, parents ensure that they remain the primary authority in their child’s education and upbringing.
