They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky by Benjamin Ajak and Alephonsion Deng

This book is the true story of young boys in Sudan who were made to run away from their village homes due to a terrible civil war over religion.

This book contains; death/grief, depression, gore/torture, potentially patently offensive content, profanity (minor), sexual assault, rape (includes very young children), and violence.

While the subject matter is undeniably harrowing, the book does offer elements of hope and demonstrates the capacity for resilience in the face of profound trauma.
