Compass Partners in Learning, a division of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative, offers a Sora E-book subscription option to member schools. This online library subscription, which offers over 10,000 titles available as e-book and audio books, is being utilized by more than 50 public school districts in South Dakota. Additions are made to the collection on a regular basis, sometimes at a rate of about 100 books per month.
A group of concerned South Dakota parents, grandparents and citizens has discovered that many of these books contain content that is potentially "harmful to minors". Some examples are listed below. This is in NO WAY a comprehensive list. It is a snapshot of what is available, and there may be additional concerning titles not yet reviewed and rated here. You should monitor and review what your child is reading.
