- Aside from the F-word being used (p.188 & p.220), a masturbation scene (p.130-131), borderline pornographic “almost” sex scene (p.321-322), and general theme of “coming of age sexualization,” I think the most insidious part for me, was the underlying unspoken theme against the family unit. While it’s true that many families can be dysfunctional, I never love it when the “teachers-will-save-you-from-your-horrible-parents” message is presented for kids.
